The UKHub digital data exchange is the first step in a planned program driven by major owner/operators in the Oil & Gas industry to establish regional supplier information hubs around the world. Equipment information will be uniquely identified and data and documents collected using standards developed by the industry, enabling global sharing and management of technical supplier information.
The collection and maintenance of information is expensive and today there is a huge duplication of effort in continually asking for and processing documents and data associated with equipment. The Hub strategy will digitalize and change the way the supply chain works, realising significant cost efficiencies and business benefits for all participants; owner/operators; contractors; suppliers and manufacturers. A key factor in the Hub deployment is promoting and ensuring the use of international industry standards. The Hubs will be a key vehicle for deployment, active use and enhancement of standards increasing the speed of ROI in standardization investments made by the industry.
The Hubs’ main focus is to make high quality technical supplier information available by being completely software agnostic and designed to connect to and work with most leading commonly used Oil and Gas software and solution providers. This will give the industry participants the freedom of choice where intelligent Hub API’s communicate with any IT system to increase their use benefits and reliability. By delivering information from a single source, consistent information across all systems holding this type of information are secured.
Following on from UK Hub, initial steps for the global Hub program are made in both USA and Australia.
